Shahid Kapoor's Deva co-star Rohullah Mehdi arrested in Mumbai drug case

Star and model Rohullah Mehdi, who worked alongside Shahid Kapoor in the 2025 movie Deva , has been arrested by the Kashimira Police Crime Branch in connection with an alleged drug trafficking case. According to a report by ANI, Mehdi and his associate were arrested with 28 grams of drugs.

Their tweet read, “Rohullah Mehdi, who worked alongside Bollywood star Shahid Kapoor in the movie ‘Deva,’ has been arrested in a drug trafficking case. Kashimira police officials received a tip-off that Mehdi was coming to the Dahisar Check Naka for drug trafficking. Senior Police Inspector Rajendra Kamble of the Kashimira Police Station formed a team and initiated surveillance and investigation. Rohullah Mehdi and his associate were arrested with 28 grams of drugs. Police have launched an investigation: Mira-Bhayandar Police.”
Meanwhile, As per an NDTV report, police shared Rohullah Mehdi is originally from Budgam district in Jammu and Kashmir and had been living in Goregaon, Mumbai. Besides working with Shahid Kapoor in Deva, he has also appeared in several web series.
Notably, Mehdi was produced before a court following his arrest and was sent to five days of police custody, according to the report. Police are now investigating the alleged drug network and are trying to determine who Mehdi may have supplied the drugs to.

In further updates, Directed by Rosshan Andrrews and produced by Siddharth Roy Kapur under Roy Kapur Films, Deva starred Shahid Kapoor in the lead role, alongside Pooja Hegde and Pavail Gulati in pivotal roles. The movie was adapted from Andrrews' 2013 Malayalam movie Mumbai Police. The movie followed a violent police officer who undergoes a personality change after losing his memory in an accident. As he tries to piece together his past, he reinvestigates the murder of a fellow police officer. Deva received mixed reviews from critics and had an underwhelming run at the ticket-window.
On top of that, Shahid Kapoor has had a mixed run at the ticket-window in recent years. His recent releases, including Deva and O'Romeo, did not make a significant impact at the ticket-window. His latest rollout, Cocktail 2, performed better commercially and featured him alongside Kriti Sanon and Rashmika Mandanna. However, the movie received mixed reviews from critics and audiences. Shahid will next be seen the the Season 2 of his web show Farzi.
