Awarapan 2 worldwide box office collection: Emraan Hashmi film opens at ₹27 crore, crosses Murder lifetime haul in a day

Awarapan 2 worldwide ticket-window earnings day 1: Awarapan 2 has rolled out smack in the middle of Emraan Hashmi ’s renaissance. The star’s resurgence over the last few years has led to the sequel to this cult classic rollout amid heavy anticipation. The result is Emraan Hashmi registering the biggest opening of his career as a lead star, and that too, by quite a margin.

Meanwhile, Overseas, the movie did not do much, beyond a couple of centres in the Middle East and North America. However, it still managed to bring in over $220K from international territories. This gives the movie a worldwide start of over ₹ 27 crore rupees. Before this, no movie of Emraan Hashmi (where he had the lead role) had ever collected over ₹ 18 crore rupees in a single day. The makers will be happy because early reports suggest day 2 could be even bigger for the movie, leading to a potential ₹ 100 crore rupees opening weekend.
Notably, Just how big is Awarapan 2 ’s start can be gauged by the fact that the movie has surpassed the lifetime collection of part 1 ( ₹ 13 crore rupees) in under a day. But Awarapan was a box-office dud, so comparing it to that is probably unfair. Regardless, Awarapan 2 has surpassed the lifetime collections of Emraan’s most popular movie - Murder - as well. The 2004 movie had collected ₹ 16 crore rupees net in India and ₹ 25 crore rupees gross worldwide. Awarapan 2 has surpassed both those marks on day 1 itself.
As per the latest buzz, Directed by Nitin Kakkar and produced by Vishesh Bhatt, Awarapan 2 brings back Emraan Hashmi in his iconic role of Shivam Pandit. The movie also stars Shabana Azmi, Disha Patani, and Suvinder Vicky. The movie received mixed to positive reviews, but praise for Emraan Hashmi’s performance and the overall tone.
