Pooja Bedi says she won't marry fiancé Maneck Contractor despite 8-year engagement: 'I've been there, done that'

Star Pooja Bedi has opened up about her decision not to marry her fiancé Maneck Contractor , despite the couple having been engaged for eight years. In a recent conversation with Vickey Lalwani on his YouTube channel, Pooja explained how her views on marriage have changed over the years and why she no longer sees the need to formalise their relationship.
Adding to this, Pooja Bedi is engaged to Maneck Contractor. Pooja Bedi reveals why she doesn't want to get married Pooja opened up that while she once strongly believed in the institution of marriage, her views have evolved over the years. She shared that she is currently in a relationship with Maneck and that they have been engaged for eight years. While people often ask them when they plan to get married, she reminds them that they are not getting married.
Meanwhile, Explaining her decision not to marry, Pooja shared, "Engagement is when a person puts a ring on your finger and says, 'I want to be married to you.' Which basically says, I want to spend the rest of my life with you by my side, as a companion, as your lover, as your husband, and as a father of your children. The commitment is enough. After the commitment is there, all you're really doing is signing a piece of paper and getting the government involved in your affair.”
Notably, "It is so much easier. I've been married, I've been divorced, and I have two children. He's been married, he's been divorced, and he has kids too. In terms of simple things, like in terms of your assets, it's so simple. My assets go to my kids; his assets go to his kids. I'm earning, he's earning, and we're both independent. I don't need him for security's sake. He doesn't need me for financial security,” she added.
As per the latest buzz, Pooja shared that while the intention was initially to get married, the reality of what marriage looked like for them did not align with their vision for life. She explained that she does not want to be "contracted to somebody", adding that she has "been there, done that". She shared she believes everyone should get married and considers marriage a wonderful space, but does not personally feel the need to do it again.
In further updates, Pooja Bedi is the daughter of star Kabir Bedi and the late classical dancer Protima Bedi. She married businessman Farhan Furniturewala in 1994 and stepped away from films after marriage. The couple welcomed two children, daughter Alaya F and son Omar, before ending their marriage in 2003. Bedi has maintained a cordial relationship with Farhan, who is now married to Laila Khan Furniturewala.
On top of that, A few years after her divorce, Pooja reconnected with Maneck, who had been her senior at The Lawrence School, Sanawar, through their alumni WhatsApp group. In 2019, he proposed to her atop a hot-air balloon. Announcing her engagement, she tweeted, “He has literally swept me off my feet... i accepted Maneck Contractor’s proposal whilst sailing in a hot air balloon. Wish all of you a lifetime of happiness & to always dream of a rainbow at the end of a storm.”
