Exclusive | Shreya Ghoshal to croon Mirzapur’s cult song Vaaroon with original singer Romy for film adaptation

The followers of Mirzapur are in for a treat as one of the show’s most popular songs makes a comeback. The superhit, Vaaroon, which was integral to the first season, will be recreated for Mirzapur: The Movie . The song, titled Vaaroon Forever, will feature Shreya Ghoshal and Romy, the original singer.
Adding to this, Mirzapur’s Vaaroon gets a fresh musical spin with Shreya Ghoshal and Romy. Shreya Ghoshal joins the soundtrack The original Vaaroon was rolled out in 2020 and became popular due to its soulful Sufi music and lyrical lyrics. The music was composed by Anand Bhaskar, whereas the lyrics were written by Ginny Diwan. Both are back for the remixed version of the song that will be rolled out on Tuesday, August 18. Vaaroon was originally picturised on Ali Fazal and Shriya Pilgaonkar in the series.
Meanwhile, An independent source tells Hindustan Times, “The famous Vaaroon song from the Mirzapur franchise is set to be recreated for Mirzapur: The Movie, titled Vaaroon Forever. While the older version was sung by Romy, Shreya Ghoshal will be joining him on the mic this time.”
Notably, Mirzapur: The Movie will bring the popular franchise from the streaming platform to the theatre, reintroducing some of the characters that made the franchise a hit among its followers. This movie is being produced by Excel Entertainment and Amazon MGM Studios, with Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani as the producers.
As per the latest buzz, Gurmmeet Singh is making a return to direct the movie adaptation of Mirzapur, while the screenplay is being penned by Puneet Krishna. The theatrical adaptation is shared to keep the same gritty universe and the power dynamics that Mirzapur has always had but take the story into a bigger place. It will be set post the events of season 1.
In further updates, At the movie’s trailer launch, Farhan Akhtar spoke about how the audience played a key role in bringing the movie to life. He shared, “The show is a result of followers' love. They have supported the show from the time it was first rolled out. Amazon took it across the world. Wherever I used to go, people used to ask me, 'Ki Mirzapur kab aa rha hai?' When it was revealed, people used to ask me the rollout date, so it is really the followers that have demanded this movie. We are very happy and grateful to have put it together with the original cast and the amazing new cast.”
On top of that, The movie brings back some of the franchise’s most recognisable faces. Pankaj Tripathi returns as Kaleen Bhaiya, while Ali Fazal reprises his role as Guddu Pandit and Divyenndu returns as Munna Bhaiya. Ravi Kishan is also joining the story as a new antagonist who poses a fresh challenge to Kaleen Bhaiya’s hold over Mirzapur.
There is also a change in the casting of Bablu Pandit. Jitendra Kumar will now play the character, who was originally portrayed by Vikrant Massey in the series. Shweta Tripathi, Rasika Dugal, Shriya Pilgaonkar, Harshita Gaur, Sheeba Chaddha and Rajesh Tailang are also part of the ensemble.
