‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ star Tom Holland’s box office report card: Top-earning movies of your friendly-neighbourhood spider

He transformed from a promising young talent into one of Hollywood's most beloved and bankable leading men. Here is a look at the star’s top-earning films and how he has risen through the ranks to become one of the most sought-after faces in the industry.
Adding to this, Holland’s latest feature, ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day,’ is on track to become one of his most successful films. The movie is set a few years after the events of ‘No Way Home’, with Peter Parker choosing to survive on his own while saving New York City in his very own, old-fashioned Spidey Suit. While looking out for his friends from afar as they enjoy their college life, things start happening to Peter. To find the answer, he reaches out to someone from his past while also dealing with an unknown evil lurking around the corner. So far, the movie, rolled out worldwide on July 31, has collected an overall ticket-window of USD 1.05 billion. With less than a week from its rollout, ‘Brand New Day’ broke the record, becoming the fastest movie to cross USD 1 billion at the ticket-window, closely following ‘Avengers: Endgame,’ which collected USD 1.2 billion during its opening weekend in theatres.
Meanwhile, ‘Endgame’ is set a few years after the events of ‘Infinity War’, showing how everyone left behind after Thanos’ snap is dealing with everything. With the discovery that Ant-Man is not dead, the Avengers assemble once more to undo what Thanos did. The heroes travel through space and time to recover the Infinity Stones once more before it's too late. According to trade reports, the movie collected USD 2.7 billion at its ticket-window, becoming one of the highest-earning films in the MCU.
Notably, ‘Infinity War’ mainly centres on the Avengers and the Guardians of the Galaxy trying their best to stop Thanos from collecting all of the Infinity Stones. The two major groups in the MCU join hands to try and stop the mad titan from collecting all of the stones and killing off half the population across the universe. However, the group is unable to stop the Blip from happening, which ends up killing off many major characters, including Loki, Heimdall, Gamora, and Vision, while many others disappear because of Thanos’ snap. The movie collected USD 2.048 billion at its ticket-window, and at the time was one of the highest earners under the Marvel superhero brand.
As per the latest buzz, ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’, rolled out in 2021, is another big hit on the star’s movie portfolio. With Peter Parker and Doctor Strange taking centre stage, the movie follows the plot of how villains from other universes in the multiverse start coming to Holland’s Earth. With too many villains such as Dr Octopus and the Green Goblin making their comeback, Andrew Garfield and Toby Maguire also officially returned to the franchise briefly to help out their fellow Spider-Man. The movie collected USD 1.921 billion at the ticket-window, though according to recent reports, his latest movie, ‘Brand New Day,’ may end up breaking this record.
In further updates, Tom Holland’s first movie as Spider-Man, ‘Captain America: Civil War,’ revolved around political discourse and the international oversight of the Avengers that breaks the group into two parts: one led by Iron Man, and the other led by Captain America. Made with a budget of USD 250 million, this was another major MCU movie that hit the mark and became a ticket-window success. According to trade reports, the movie collected USD 1.155 billion at its ticket-window run.
On top of that, The second movie under Tom Holland’s stint as Spider-Man takes him and the gang away on a trip in Europe. When things start to unravel, and his duties as Spider-Man and an Avenger follow him during vacation time, Parker must learn to balance his private time with his superhero duties while battling a new antagonist played by Jake Gyllenhaal, called Mysterio. The movie was a big hit at the ticket-window and beat the record set by ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’, earning USD 1.133 billion.
Made by Christopher Nolan, the movie is set around Homer’s classic poem, ‘The Odyssey’, which follows the story of the King of Ithaca. Set in the aftermath of the Trojan War, the movie shows how Odysseus is hell-bent on returning to his wife, Penelope, and his son, Telemachus (played by Tom Holland), after being at war for around 10 years. It follows his perilous journey back home over the course of 10 years, facing off with monsters and gods alike. The movie collected USD 911 million at its ticket-window, and is currently still in circulation in theatres.
