Why isn't Kelly Ripa on 'Live'? Host still absent as guests fill in

Adlon stepped in on Thursday, July 30, as Ripa has remained away from the daytime talk show all week following the procedure. The "Californication" star and "Better Things" director and star is also a longtime voice star, best known for voicing Bobby Hill on " King of the Hill ."
Adding to this, Consuelos, 55, previously informed viewers that Ripa, also 55, of late had the long overdue surgery, which "replaces the lost tissue around your teeth," according to the Cleveland Clinic . He added that Ripa is "doing well" but, per her doctor's orders, is "not allowed to talk."
Meanwhile, Consuelos, Ripa's husband and full-time cohost since 2023, has periodically updated viewers on her recovery. He shared on July 27 that though his wife "famously doesn't feel pain," the recovery has been "painful."
Notably, "When she goes into the dentist, she doesn't really use the Novocain, but this one hurts," he shared. "So I know it's bad."
As per the latest buzz, Kelly Ripa has been absent from "Live with Kelly and Mark" since July 27, when guest host Kevin Jonas appeared on the show. The Jonas Brothers musician also filled in for Ripa on July 28, while Mila Kunis filled in on July 29.
In further updates, Pamela Adlon joined Consuelos as the July 30 guest cohost after appearing as a guest the previous week. "Scrubs" and "Scandal" star Scott Foley is set to guest host on Friday, July 31.
On top of that, Ripa's return date has not been publicly revealed. Like many daytime talk shows, "Live with Kelly and Mark" typically goes on a summer hiatus in August.
