Blue Jays lose Vladimir Guerrero Jr. to hamstring injury, fall to Nationals after Shane Bieber issues 6 first-inning walks

The Nationals went on to an 8-6 win in a game in which Blue Jays starter Shane Bieber issued six walks in the first inning.
Adding to this, Washington sent 10 batters to the plate and jumped out to a 4-0 first-inning lead thanks largely to those walks that chased Bieber from his start after just 2/3 of an inning. Bieber issued three walks with the bases loaded and was tagged with four collected runs in the loss despite allowing a single hit.
Meanwhile, Matters got worse for the Blue Jays when Guerrero was pulled in the fourth inning. He appeared to sustain the injury while running out a ground ball in the top of the third.
Notably, He winced after rounding first and was able to reach second due to a throwing error. But he was replaced on defense by Kazuma Okamoto in the top of the fourth.
As per the latest buzz, The Blue Jays revealed shortly after his exit that Guerrero was dealing with right hamstring tightness. The severity of the injury and his prognosis were initially unclear.
In further updates, The injury and the loss added up to further blows to what's been a disappointing season in Toronto. Coming off a World Series appearance in which they pushed the Los Angeles Dodgers to extra innings in Game 7, the Blue Jays looked poised to compete for the AL East and another postseason run.
On top of that, Instead, they leave Monday in last place in the AL East at 49-59, 14 games out of first place and 5.5 games out of wild-card position. The poor start has prompted calls for the Blue Jays to sell at the soon-to-release MLB trade deadline .
A six-time All-Star, Guerrero is a franchise cornerstone who's under contract through 2039. He's not a candidate for the trade block. But if his injury sidelines him further, it will further extinguish any hope of Toronto rallying to compete in the AL wild card race.
